Process carried out on polyester fabrics which, through the action of the alkali, eliminates the surface layer of fibres thus reducing the weight and giving the fabric a silky hand and more comfortable feel.

Finishing process in which fibres are raised to produce surface down. To achieve this effect, the piece of fabric is passed over rotating cylinders covered with metal points or teasel burrs which raise the surface fibres, creating a more or less downy appearance according to how vigorous the process is (also called napping). →
