Our history
The finishing of yarns and fabrics is both an art and an industrial activity: the dyeing process is the result of an age-old craft that has evolved and become utterly modern in its techniques.
The family vocation was already evident at the end of the 19th century when the great-grandfather of the founders of Vago SpA set up the business with the first firm for the dyeing of fabrics.
In 1952 the bothers Cesare and Giuseppe Vago decided to go into the dyeing of yarns, so as not to become competitors of the other branches of the family. Thus was born the Tintoria Filati Bustese (the Yarn Dye-works of Busto) of Cesare and Giuseppe Vago, the firm's original name.
Production started off with dyeing in vats and cabinets but after just one year the first, and at the time revolutionary, pressurized surge tanks for reel dyeing were installed.
From the time of its foundation, the company was intent on searching for markets with higher added value, and this led to widening the offer with the mercerization of yarn in skeins.
The range of products was then enriched with reeling, unwinding, dye spooling and paraffin smoothing so as to provide an all-round assistance.
As production increased, so did the size of the plant and the workforce, which reached over 70 employees, and new markets were conquered.
In the early eighties the arrival in the company of the sons of one of the founders, Marino and Augusto, led to some essential strategic decisions: the strengthening of the financial standing of the company and the automation of the production processes. The company became firstly a joint-stock company and subsequently, while greatly increasing its financial standing, took on its current name VAGO S.p.A.
The available funds were used for a thorough process of modernization and automation of the machinery in order to guarantee the constant growth of productivity and quality levels.
A further improvement to the company's performance was provided by the advent of computer technology, allowing process control that was unreachable beforehand and communication with the market in real time.
In 2003 the extension of the buildings was completed with the creation of a new mercerization hall and a new company lay-out was arranged. Our development is an ongoing process with special attention given to both customer care and the small detailed improvements to the production processes.
