Curled fibre buttons. They are the spherical balls, the small irregular entangled knots of fibres, hair, that cling to the yarn and deform it, creating the textured BOUTONNE’ yarn. Often they are immature or dead fibres and so do not absorb the dye and remain pale coloured.
